In order to monitor the exposure to aluminium of the workforce in the metallurgical industry, Radiatori 2000 S.p.A., during 2019, joined the “Aluminium HPG 23 Project” promoted by Confindustria Bergamo in collaboration with the University of Brescia.

25 employees, selected from the die-casting department and the furnace department (areas in close contact with molten aluminium), underwent both lung capacity measurements at the Papa Giovanni XXIII Hospital in Bergamo and personal biological monitoring to check for the possible presence of aluminium traces in their bodies. The results of the sampling, shared also with the Occupational Doctor, showed no cause for concern and led to positive outcomes for all the workers involved.

To gain a more comprehensive view of the situation, this year the company decided to complete the monitoring of its employees by conducting further investigations through both personal and workplace environmental sampling, focusing on departments not included in the “Alluminio HPG 23” project.

In this case as well, the results, shared with the Occupational Doctor, were favorable, describing an overall positive outcome. The health of our employees and the protection of their safety in the workplace are our priorities. We will continue to participate in projects throughout 2020 that can safeguard those who work with us.
