Ciserano, November 2019

Radiatori 2000 Spa, based in Ciserano (BG), a leading company in the market for cast aluminium radiators, has been using oxy-combustion technology within its production cycle for many years to reduce the environmental impact of its activities. Pure oxygen, necessary for the operation of melting activities, was previously stored in liquid form and transported by tank trucks.

As part of its ongoing process of improving the internal safety of its employees and focusing on the surrounding area while reducing the environmental impact of its activities, RADIATORI 2000 Spa has requested SOL SpA, an Italian multinational leader in the production and commercialization of technical gases, to gain direct access to the existing oxygen pipeline in the area. They have signed a multi-year supply agreement, through which, starting this November, RADIATORI 2000 Spa will be able to receive oxygen directly via an underground pipeline (2.5 km in length), eliminating the need for liquid gas supply.

Compared to receiving liquid gas via tankers, the supply through the underground pipeline will bring significant benefits both at the company level, in terms of workplace safety for employees thanks to reduced internal vehicle circulation within the plant, and at the production efficiency level, making Radiatori 2000 S.p.A. more flexible and autonomous regarding the gas supply, ensuring production continuity.

The positive territorial impact should not be underestimated, as the local community will notice a significant improvement in traffic flow and a consequent reduction in the environmental impact of the supply itself. This is due to the elimination of road transport (500 fewer heavy vehicles per year, which is approximately 104,000 kilometers traveled), with an estimated CO2 emission savings of 92,100 kg per year and a reduction in nitrogen oxides and particulate matter.

This project, together with a focus on employee training and updates and investments in 4.0 technology, is part of a sustainable industrial development plan that the FECS Group, to which Radiatori 2000 S.p.A. belongs, has been implementing for years. Its goals in terms of environmental respect, better workplace quality, innovation, and production efficiency are the foundation of the business strategies outlined by the Group’s President, Olivo Foglieni.

“In a critical moment of the international market, this important long-term investment is part of a broader development plan, demonstrating the strong desire to grow by enhancing and respecting the territory in which we operate,” says Arianna Scaravaggi, CEO of Radiatori 2000 S.p.A.

Only through daily and continuous improvement activities in production processes can we achieve great benefits for the environment, the community, safety, and the sustainability of industrial activity within a globalized market. Thanks to awareness and knowledge, we can become protagonists in sustainable development.
